Packed undercoat, curly feet and sanitary areas
A double coat sheds into itself. The loose undercoat stays trapped beneath the topcoat, against the skin, and a quick rinse leaves it right where it was. On curly-coated dogs the trouble sits lower: hair grows over the outside of the feet, thickens between the pads, and gathers around the sanitary areas, where it holds onto whatever the dog walked through that week.
Bath Plus+ is the appointment built for those dogs, big or small, as long as they are hairy. It is also the right booking when your dog does not need a haircut but has outgrown a plain bath. Short coats do well with a Full-Service Bath. Once the coat has real length, the feet and the face need hands on them, and that is the line between the two at our Longmont studio.
What a Bath Plus+ covers on Francis Street
Every Bath Plus+ starts with a bubble bath and a hand dry, with spray conditioner worked through the coat. Then comes 10 to 15 minutes of brushing, the step that separates this appointment from a plain bath, because loosened undercoat has to be brushed out of a double-coated dog, not just rinsed past.
After the brush-out, the groomer trims the natural paws and the outside of the feet on curly-coated dogs, clips the pad hair, tidies the sanitary areas, and finishes the face and natural ear trim. Nails are trimmed and filed, and ears are cleaned. Appointments run Monday to Friday at 1130 Francis St, from as early as 7:15 am, with last pick-up at 5:30 pm.
For double-coated breeds we recommend adding the Shed Control Treatment: a special shampoo, water massage and brushing in the bath, a deep-conditioning conditioner, spray-in conditioner while drying, and extra brushing and raking. It is +$20 for small and medium dogs, +$25 for large, and +$35 for extra large and giant.
A touch-up between full grooms, with the extras named
Think of Bath Plus+ as the touch-up between grooms. The studio's guide for a full groom is every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on breed, hair type and length, and a Bath Plus+ fits in the gap so a coat with length stays comfortable. Dogs that go more than 8 weeks between grooms carry an extra charge, which is worth knowing when you plan the calendar.
Some work is priced beyond the starting figure. Feather trimming on double-coated dogs may cost extra, and matting or extra brushing is charged on top. Every price on this page is an estimate and a place to start, and the plus sign after each figure means what it says: the number is where the price begins.
