Full-Service Bath

Bubble bath and hand dry, spray conditioner, lite brushing, nail trim and file, ear cleaning and paw pad trimming. Best for short-haired breeds.

Short coats still shed, and nails and ears still grow

A short coat looks like low maintenance, and the coat is the easy part. Hair still sheds onto the couch, skin still collects whatever the dog rolled in, and the jobs nobody sees get skipped: nails that click on the floor, ears that hold dirt, pad hair that grows long enough to slip on tile. A dog can go months looking fine while those pile up.

The Full-Service Bath is the appointment for exactly this. It suits short-haired breeds that do not need a haircut, and it takes care of the whole dog rather than just the coat, at the studio on Francis Street in Longmont.

What goes into a Full-Service Bath

The groomer starts with a bubble bath and works spray conditioner through the coat, then dries the dog by hand. Hand drying matters on a short coat, because it lifts loose hair off the skin while the coat is still damp. Brushing is lite, which fits a coat that does not tangle: enough to move shed hair along without a long session on the table.

Then the finishing work. Nails are trimmed and filed, ears are cleaned, and the paw pads are trimmed. Studio appointments run Monday to Friday, from as early as 7:15 am, with last pick-up at 5:30 pm. Allow time for the whole visit, since the studio asks you to plan for up to 4 hours.

Keeping a short coat on a schedule

The studio's guide for grooming is every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on breed, hair type and length. Short-haired dogs sit at the easy end of that range, and a regular bath keeps nails and ears from being the thing you notice first. Dogs that go more than 8 weeks between visits carry an extra charge.

Hairy or double-coated dogs belong in Bath Plus+, which adds 10 to 15 minutes of brushing, feet, pad hair, sanitary areas and a face and ear trim. Prices are starting estimates, and the plus sign marks where they begin.
